Last Updated: 2026

Evidence Collector respects the privacy of its users and is committed to transparency regarding how the extension works, what data is processed, and how this information is used.

This Privacy Policy describes how Evidence Collector collects, uses, stores, and protects information related to the use of the extension.

1. Nature of the Extension

Evidence Collector is a digital forensic tool designed for the collection, documentation, and preservation of digital evidence based on the user's own browsing experience.

The extension acts exclusively on:

  • Content displayed on the user's screen

  • Audio played on the user's computer

  • Technical metadata associated with captures (e.g., URL, date, time, browsing environment)

Evidence Collector is not a monitoring tool; it does not perform surveillance, does not collect data in the background, and does not access information that is not visibly available to the user at the time of capture

2. Data Collected

2.1 User-captured content

The following data may be generated exclusively by direct user action:

  • Screenshots (PDF)

  • Browsing recordings (WebM)

  • Page exports (MHTML)

  • Forensic reports

  • Integrity verification files (hash and signature)

This data is created locally in the user's browser and stored only on the user's own device.

2.2 Technical Metadata

Each piece of evidence may contain informative metadata, such as:

  • Captured page URL

  • Date and time of capture

  • Browser and system information

  • Capture dimensions

  • SHA-256 cryptographic hash

  • Evidence Collector signature

This metadata is for exclusively technical and forensic purposes, aimed at traceability, integrity, and validation of the evidence.

3. Data that is NOT collected

Evidence Collector does not collect, store, or transmit:

  • Full browsing history

  • Login credentials, passwords, or cookies

  • Third-party personal data not displayed to the user

  • Content typed outside of captured areas

  • Financial information

  • Tracking or advertising data

  • Hidden telemetry or usage statistics

4. Data Processing and Storage

✔️ 100% Local Processing
All processing of captures, recordings, hashes, and signatures occurs locally in the user's browser.

✔️ No automatic data sending
Evidence Collector does not send page content, evidence files, or metadata to external servers.

✔️ Full user control
The user has full control over which evidence is generated, saved, shared, or discarded.

5. Connections to External Services (Optional)

Some optional features may involve communication with external services, always in an explicit manner and controlled by the user:

5.1 Timestamping (TSA – RFC 3161)

  • Only the file's SHA-256 hash is sent

  • Evidence content is not transmitted

  • Purpose: temporal proof of the file's existence

5.2 Blockchain Temporal Proof

  • Only the SHA-256 hash is used

  • No personal data or evidence content is sent

  • Purpose: public and immutable temporal record

These connections do not occur automatically and depend on direct user action.

6. Browser Permissions

The extension requests only permissions strictly necessary for its operation:

* storage – Store preferences and settings* activeTab – Interact with the active tab* tabs – Capture screen and manage tabs* downloads – Save generated files* contextMenus – Add options to the right-click menu* clipboardWrite – Copy extracted data

No permission is used for purposes unrelated to the described functionalities.

7. Copyright and Conscious Use

Evidence Collector is a tool for recording the user's own browsing.

The extension:

  • Does not bypass protection mechanisms

  • Does not remove DRM

  • Does not access restricted content

  • Does not encourage the illegal use of protected material

The user is solely responsible for ensuring that the use of collected evidence complies with applicable legislation, copyright, personality rights, and ethical standards.

8. User Responsibility

Evidence Collector is provided as a technical support tool.

The use, storage, sharing, and presentation of the generated evidence are the sole responsibility of the user, including the verification of legality, legitimacy, and suitability of the use of the information collected.

9. Operational Guarantee

Evidence Collector depends on web pages, native browser APIs, and code structures that are constantly evolving.

Changes to websites, browsers, security policies, or technical limitations may partially or totally affect certain functionalities. There is no guarantee of continuous operation, universal compatibility, or permanent availability.

10. Changes to this Policy

This Privacy Policy may be updated periodically to reflect improvements in the extension, legal changes, or technical adjustments.

It is recommended that the user review this page regularly.
